What is Human Performance and why does it matter to the construction industry?

Three main concepts:
  • Understanding how the brain works at work.
  • Most incidents are caused by the system not the worker.
  • You can judge or you can learn.
Why does HP matter to construction?
  • We have made major improvements in minor injury prevention, yet fatalities have plateaued over the last 20 years.
  • Resources are more limited than ever in the construction industry. HP helps us target our resources where they receive the biggest return on investment.
  • HP isn't just a safety thing; it is an operating philosophy that improves all areas of performance.  It can also help reduce errors in other areas such as estimating.
