Amerson Supervisor Safety Award
AGC Georgia’s Amerson Supervisor Safety Award program is designed to recognize member firms’ front-line supervisors who make a commitment in keeping their field associates safe and able to return home to their families each day.
This annual program spotlights general and specialty contractors' field supervisors for their outstanding safety performance and dedication to job site safety during the previous calendar year.
Superintendents and foremen meeting the requirements of a Certificate of Commendation for Safety Excellence are honored at award ceremonies around the state either close to their home office or current job site.
The call for nominations opens each year during the first week of January and the deadline is typically at the beginning of the first full week of February.
The eight award ceremonies are offered in March and April of each year. They are in conjunction with Members First networking meetings in Albany, Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Commerce, Macon, Savannah and Valdosta.
This award is named in honor of Ron Amerson. Mr. Amerson was a proven and well-respected safety professional who worked with AGC Georgia members’ field personnel for many years. After his untimely death in 2001, association leadership honored his legacy by naming our Supervisor Safety Award program after him. Ron was always welcome on jobsites and recognized for his expertise in loss control. Undoubtedly, his dedication to and passion for teaching best safety practices saved lives. He held the Certified Safety Manager designation and was a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, the National Fire Protection Association and was a board member of Georgia’s Northeast Region of the National Safety Council. He was a licensed Georgia State Paramedic and an instructor in Basic Emergency Medical Technique. Ron made a lasting impression on many professionals in the construction industry, and AGC Georgia is proud to recognize field supervisors in his honor.
