The 2020 recipient of the AGC Georgia SIR Award is Mr. Randall K. Redding, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of R. K. Redding Construction, Inc.

Randall K. Redding founded R.K. Redding Construction (RKR) in 1991, when he decided to make a difference in his hometown of Bremen, Ga. Through the years, RKR has prospered under Redding’s guiding philosophy of putting customer service above all else. Today, the established general contractor and construction management firm is licensed in seven southeastern states.

Under Randall’s leadership, RKR has delivered comprehensive construction services and solutions to its clients. RKR is active in many markets, including education, medical, religious facilities, cultural, governmental, and industrial and office/retail. The company philosophy is based on honesty, quality and integrity with the ultimate goal of gaining customer trust and satisfaction.

This goal is evidenced by Inc. Magazine, Atlanta Business Chronicle and Georgia Trend all naming RKR as one of the fastest growing companies and the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Georgia Trend naming the firm to their respective Best Places to Work List. In addition, RKR has received numerous construction awards through the years, including 15 AGC Build Georgia Awards and multiple AGC Safety Awards at both the state and national level.

Both at RKR and when serving as president of and on the board of AGC Georgia, Redding focused on workforce development and finding solutions to help students discover a path for future success. Redding played an instrumental role in forging a partnership for the State of Georgia to introduce intentional career exploration options into public school systems statewide.

As a pioneer in helping Georgia students learn the types of careers to which they are best suited, Redding sought to assist students plan for their future after high school graduation. RKR was an early partner in adopting and sponsoring an online program offering robust aptitude and interest tools to showcase “best-fit” career paths. After Redding financed a pilot program with all Paulding County and Bremen City High Schools, the Georgia’s Department of Education saw the power of the tool.

Redding didn’t stop there, he worked with numerous state leaders, including State Senator Lindsey Tippins, in a collaborative effort between the Georgia Department of Education and the Technical College System of Georgia. The two agencies partnered to provide the tool free of charge to every public high school student in the state.

The results are impressive. Of the more than 30,000 students who have completed the assessment tool, more than 25% show a high aptitude in some area of construction. This is a significant piece of the state’s need to build the construction industry’s talent pipeline. Redding didn’t stop there, he was part of an AGC Georgia delegation that visited with Art Daniel, who at the time was the AGC of America President, to share the success.

Along with keeping in touch with the national association’s activities, Redding has been involved with the following groups at AGC Georgia over the years:

  • Legislative Committee
  • Political Action Committee
  • Investment Committee
  • Board of Directors – served 9 years on the board, including as president in 2014-15
  • Spoken on numerous mentoring panels to help build the next generation of construction leaders who are focusing on Skill, Integrity and Responsibility within the industry.

His firm is a longtime participant of CompTrust AGC Mutual Captive Insurance Company and values the safety training provided to all the teams on the RKR jobsites. As company leader, he takes the company’s safety culture very seriously and RKR participates in many of AGC Georgia’s safety programs.

Redding also has spent time helping to building his community. He recently served as the Chairman of the Grow Haralson cooperative and is a board member of the West GA Joint Development Authority, UWG Foundation and Tanner Foundation. He was Chair of the UWG Foundation for four years and served as Chair on the building committee that oversaw much of the new student housing on campus.

Beyond construction, Redding converted a former Ingles into Mill Town Music Hall, a thriving music venue in Bremen. During the past few years, the facility has helped revitalize the community by providing quality wholesome entertainment that has welcomed renowned artists such as Toby Keith, Oak Ridge Boys, Kenny Loggins and The Temptations.

Active in the community, Randall also finds time to give generously of his time and efforts in the community. Following is just a partial list of his awards, affiliations and associations:
