You’ve been out of college for a while now and you are at a point in your career where you have a stable job and income. It’s time to pay more attention to your personal finances, but you are not sure where to start. Depending on who you speak with, you're not sure what area of your finances you should prioritize first. The most important thing in personal finances is to have a firm foundation. Without it, your long term financial goals can come crashing down.
At this roundtable, you will have the chance to learn about prioritize your personal finances in the following areas:
• What’s important in budgeting and planning for the expected and unexpected?
• What is the best way to use debt?
• What are the retirement benefits available to you as employee or small business owner?
• How much and what type of life insurance do I need?
• Do I need disability insurance coverage?
• What is the right insurance coverage for my home, auto, excess liability?
Speaker BIOS:
Jeff Brandon
With over 20 years of experience, Jeff works closely with affluent individuals and families by helping them achieve their long-term financial goals. As Senior Wealth Planner for Smith & Howard Wealth Management, Jeff brings a broad background of working with affluent clients in financial planning, investing, insurance, estate planning, and banking. His analytical mindset and a gifted insight allow Jeff to bring a refreshing approach to his clients.
Jeff earned a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech. After three years in manufacturing, he moved into financial services in 2001. Jeff and his family have lived in South Atlanta for over 20 years. When away from the office, Jeff stays involved with activities that impact his children and their peers. He has served the Boy Scouts of America for the last decade. Jeff also coaches at the Southern Soccer Academy’s Rec League in Coweta County and is known to perform in productions at the Newnan Theatre Company.
Michael Mueller
Michael is a wealth planner who has been with Smith & Howard Wealth Management (SHWM) going on five years. Prior to working for SHWM, Michael attended the University of Georgia, where he received my Bachelor’s Degree in financial planning. Shortly after graduating, he sat for, and passed, my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ designation. This legally holds me accountable to act as a fiduciary for the clients that he serve. Outside of his role at Smith & Howard Wealth Management, Michael is weirdly addicted to triathlon! He loves swimming, biking and running. The process of working towards a large goal – the actual race – is something that he loves. Michael really enjoys the discipline, structure, and planning it takes to be competitive in these competitions. Outside of triathlon, he enjoys traveling (when there’s not a global pandemic going on), and spending time with his family.
