As any construction employee knows from first-hand experience, working in construction takes a toll physically and mentally through injuries, accidents, stress, behavioral health issues, and substance use.
Research shows that the suicide rate for men in the construction industry is five times greater than all other work-related fatalities in the industry. The construction industry is also know for having the highest drug overdose death rate of any industry, yet, only 2 in 10 construction workers get help for their mental health.
Through the national partnership, member AND their families now can have access to mental health resources. Hamilton will speak to how employers can better support their employees through multi-facted peer coaching, online learning and family support.
