Welcome from AGC Georgia President, Scott Clark
After several years of fun in the sun on the Atlantic Coast, this year we are back on the white, sandy beaches of the Gulf. I'm looking forward to a great convention and hope you and your family and colleagues will make plans to join us.
Our golf tournament always gets us started, and this year it will take place at 9:00 am on Thursday, June 7. Make sure you plan your arrival for Wednesday if you plan to play in the tournament. Later on Thursday, we'll reconvene for our Welcome Reception and Dinner. All members and their families are invited, we'll even have dedicated children's activities available. It's going to be casual and FUN!
With the new Executive Alliance (EA) getting underway this February, I'm excited to have a new group of members participating in our convention. For the benefit of our industry's and association's future, it's critical for AGC Georgia to dedicate resources to help mid-level managers and those on path to company stewardship find the professional development opportunities needed to hone their leadership skills. It will be nice to have our up-and-coming stars from the Young Leadership Program (YLP), alongside our new EA members and seasoned business owners. This makes for excellent conversation and sharing of best practices.
All business registrants are invited to gather on Friday morning for our Annual Meeting, complete with keynote presentations from AGC of America CEO, Steve Sandherr and President, Eddie Stewart. Eddie is a Georgia Tech alumnus and was installed as AGC of America President on February 28, 2018. He is president of Caddell Construction Company, an AGC Georgia member firm.
On Friday, everyone is invited to the Beach Bash sponsored by CompTrust AGC Mutual Captive Insurance Company. This evening will be open for attendees to explore the area on their own for dinner. Those enrolled in the YLP and EA have an opportunity to gather with their peers for a hosted dinner at the resort.
On Saturday morning, we'll host our award ceremony and recognize the best of the best construction projects built by our member contractors and present corporate safety awards. The Annual Dinner closes the convention in eloquent style on Saturday evening. The 2018 Skill, Integrity and Responsibility (SIR) Award is presented at this program and the new officers and board members are installed. This year, I have the special privilege of presenting the SIR Award to Charlie Garbutt, Chairman of the Board for Garbutt Construction Co. and passing the gavel to Kevin Kuntz, President of the Southeast Division of McCarthy Building Companies, Inc.
Immediately following the business of our closing dinner, please plan to join us for a rip-roaring fun After Party! This will be a great way to close out what's shaping up to be a fantastic convention! Can't wait to see you and your family on the coast!
