About the Course

The 4-hour Scaffold Safety Refresher Course provides workers with a review of key safety practices when working on or around scaffolds. It begins with a brief overview of OSHA 1926 Subpart L, emphasizing the responsibilities of both workers and competent persons. Participants will revisit the most common types of scaffolds used in construction, such as frame, system, suspended, and mobile scaffolds.

The course highlights major hazards including:

Falls and falling objects
Electrical hazards
Scaffold collapse due to overloading or poor setup

Safe use and inspection protocols are reinforced, including proper access, load limits, and daily inspections by a competent person. Fall protection requirements are reviewed, focusing on when guardrails or person fall arrest systems (PFAS) are necessary, along with basics on proper harness fit and anchorage points. The course wraps up with a review of best practices, real-life incident examples, and a short quiz to reinforce learning.
