Annual CareerExpo & SkillsUSA State Championship Event

March 23-25, 2017 - Georgia International Convention Center

The CareerExpo is Georgia’s largest event designed specifically for young students to explore more than 30 career pathways in construction ranging from tile setter to safety professional and line worker to heavy equipment operator. The Expo is divided into 13 different worlds, eg. World of Plumbing, World of Green Construction Management, World of Engineering and Architecture, etc.  filling a space equal to six football fields. Each world is designed to be fun, interactive and educational with a specific focus on how academic studies in math or science as examples are used on the job and what types of careers are available.

During the expo, students interact with hundreds of industry professionals from more than 380 companies, apprenticeship programs, colleges and universities, and vocational schools.  The SkillsUSA Championships take place on the center stage and feature the best high school and technical college talent in the state. Typically 400 students compete in 26 different skill competitions such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, welding and electrical. Students are judged by industry volunteers on project completion, accuracy, safety and other industry-based criteria. Winners of the state championships advance to the national finals.
