Construction Leadership Yesterday, Today and the Future

Part 1: What are you working on? How to Take Your Leadership Skills to the Next Level

Leadership in the construction industry means something completely different than what it used to mean. In fact, if you're leading today the way you did even ten or fifteen years ago, there are many things you may be doing wrong. If you're new in construction, understanding how to be a strong leader is an essential skill walking in the door. In this program, David Rabiner will lead you through a process that highlights the most current and critical leadership qualities that will make you more influential with co-workers, partners, owners, and anyone else you encounter. More important, committing to these qualities will help your company create a culture that attracts and retains the highest quality employees, which many believe is the biggest challenge facing contractors today and in years to come. Most important, this program will include the obstacles that keep people from exemplifying those critical leadership qualities - and how to overcome those obstacles.

Part 2: Leadership on the Ground: Bridging the Gap Between Knowing and Doing

It's easy to describe what leaders are, but it's more difficult to describe what leaders actually do. The big question is this - if you're going to improve your own leadership, then what are you going to start doing, stop doing, do more of, do less of, or just do differently? In this program, David Rabiner will provide you with specific tools and practices you can use that will make you more influential and successful with others. These are tools and practices you can implement immediately that will define you in a powerful way. Finally, this program takes the critical leadership quality of "trust" and breaks it into components that make sense. Understanding these components will provide you with a mechanism for repairing old relationships and cementing new ones. When you leave, you will have the foundation for your own personal leadership development plan, and you will know how to implement it.

About the Presenter
David Rabiner is a rare combination of subject matter expert and humorist. A lifelong student of leadership and personal effectiveness, David has presented to more than 2,000 audiences in 46 states and 12 countries. David graduated from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communications at Washington State University. Before becoming a speaker, trainer, and facilitator in 1993, David enjoyed a successful 15-year career in radio news broadcasting, as an entrepreneur, and in executive level public service. In 2003, David passed rigorous standards to earn the coveted Certified Speaking Professional designation, awarded only to a small percentage of speakers nationally who have a long-term proven record of experience and satisfaction with a wide variety of clients, as well as a commitment to continuing education in the speaking profession. A popular speaker in the construction industry, DAvid's programs are fast, powerful, and funny, but more important, his presentations are substantive and practical. His common-sense approach and real-world examples are easy to listen to, and they compel change, which is the hallmark of speaking and training excellence.
