Intro To Human Performance

View Flyer for this Hybrid Course

Note: Our sought-after instructor, Philip Greisen, vice president of AGC Georgia member firm, PROSAFE Solutions, Inc. will be in-person at the AGC Georgia Hybrid Learning Room. He'll engage with both in-seat and virtual participants throughout this dynamic session.

Human Performance is the next generation of safety management.  Human error is often identified as the cause of many accidents.  However, it is the beginning point rather than the end point in truly understanding both accident causation and safety performance.

The old view of safety assumes that people can choose to make errors, and when they do, it is due to willful misconduct.  The new view understands that all humans make mistakes every day, even every hour.  This requires us to understand the system and leadership issues that can cause human error and how to create systems that reduce error or make it safer to fail.

In this course you will learn six principles of human performance:
1. People are fallible and even the best make mistakes.
2. Error-likely situations are predictable.
3. Individual behaviors are influenced by culture and leadership.
4. Organizations and people drift.
5. Events can be avoided by learning.
6. People achieve high levels of performance through encouragement and reinforcement.
