As a result of Georgia Branch, AGC’s partnership and underwriting of the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia (CEFGA), members benefit from the Chapter's leadership role of attracting and training new workers to our industry. The results of CEFGA and AGC's work products is a larger pool of workers Chapter members have to recruit from in our state's high schools and vocational programs. Cultivating an interest in construction among young adults is critical to replacing our industry's aging workforce and helping firms build their companies and take on new work.
Member firms also benefit from the Chapter’s leadership role in promoting the industry in high schools and training young craft workers in technical schools. Regular Construction Workforce Alliance meetings are convened by the Chapter and CEFGA bringing school instructors, superintendents, and department chairmen together with contractors to plan and execute a variety of special initiatives including transportation of construction students to attend the annual construction expo in Atlanta and gathering extra construction equipment and supplies to further the construction learning experience.
In partnership with CEFGA, the Chapter helps fund and promote member firms hiring student interns and we also hosts speaking engagements with student groups. Georgia Branch, AGC also maintains a close relationship with AGC Student Chapters at Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Southern University, Gwinnett Technical College and Southern Polytechnic State University.
