What is a Stand Down?
It's FREE to participate, yet PRICELESS in potentially saving lives! Construction companies who know the value of safety training, use this time to stop all work, provide a focused safety toolbox talk meeting on all their jobsites in Georgia, on one day, at the same time, on one particular topic. Thus, providing effective communication of safety policies, goals and expectations through all levels of their construction team.
Stand Downs are not new to the construction industry. Fellow AGC chapters across the United States regularly organize Stand Downs for their contractor members. Many national contractors also include these in their safety program.
Georgia Branch, AGC, and our stand down partners, OSHA and CompTrustAGC Mutual Captive Insurance Company (MCIC) believe there is tremendous value in committing 30 minutes to an hour of your day's work to talk about safety, leading to increased employee safety morale. Stopping to talk about safety brings it to the forefront of everyone's mind! It is very important to communicate your firm's safety message to front line workers who constitute the largest group of our industry's workforce.
What is this Stand Down topic?
Crane Safety . . . From crawlers to tower cranes, everyone should know the basics of crane safety!
It's easy to participate!!!
You can register your company as a participant by using the links at the top of this page. By registering, you are committing your firm to conducting a Stand Down on your jobsites on the morning of August 8 beginning at 7:00 a.m.
Chapter staff provides your company's chosen contact with the toolbox talk – in English and Spanish – and posters to display on your jobsites and in your corporate office.
Remember, Georgia Branch, AGC provides all the "talking points" for the Stand Down. All we need you to do is commit to using the information to educate your field employees on crane safety!
Be creative! Bring in breakfast for the crew, make special hard hat decals, offer a raffle prize. Don't forget to document your meeting by creating a dated sign-in sheet and have all participants sign it.
