OSHA's Silica Competent Person Training for Construction

OSHA's Crystalline Silica Competent Person Training for Construction
Enforcement Date:  September 23, 2017

Exposure to respirable crystalline silica can cause silicosis, lung cancer, other respiratory diseases and kidney disease.  About two million construction workers are exposed in over 600,000 workplaces.  OSHA estimates more than 840,000 workers are exposed to silica levels that exceed the new permissible exposure limit.  Workers and contractors need to recognize the hazard, understand the risk factors and work safety silica.  The new rule mandates that all construction employers covered by the standard to have a written exposure control plan and designate a competent person.  This course will provide supervisors, managers and safety professionals the knowledge and tools to comply with the new silica standard for construction.
Attendees will also receive the information needed to serve as silica competent persons in order to implement the written exposure control plan required by the standard.
